A work in progress.

Chris has an old course on horary astrology which is still available on The Astrology School. We are in the process of updating the old course with new content, including new video lectures featuring Chris and myself, as well as new diagrams and hand-outs prepared by our graphic designer Paige Herbert.

While the course is still a work in progress, it is currently available for early access at a low price. Once we complete the course content we will increase the price. You can get in now at a lower price and have access to all the new material as we upload it, and you will be grandfathered into the new course once it has been finalised.

Early medieval horary astrology.

The techniques we cover in this course come from the earliest surviving textbooks on horary astrology, which were all written in Arabic between the 8th and 9th centuries CE by foundational figures such as Māshā’allāh ibn Athari and Sahl ibn Bishr.

This focus on the early medieval tradition sets our course apart from other horary courses currently available, which tend to focus on the later tradition of horary astrology epitomised by the 17th century astrologer William Lilly.

By going back to the earliest available textbooks we can attempt to reconstruct the original system of horary astrology and try to understand the thinking of the founders of this fascinating branch of astrology.

This course is built upon new translations of these texts that have only become available in recent years, and it represents a watershed moment for the study and practise of horary astrology!

The early medieval approach to horary astrology differs in some significant ways from horary in 17th century England - for example, the use of whole sign houses, and a more detailed and fleshed-out aspect doctrine.
